About

A branding and marketing veteran with a retail point of view.

Benjamin Fairweather

Founder · Creative Director

Uncanny Platypus is a sole proprietorship led by Benjamin Fairweather — a branding and marketing agency veteran with deep experience across consumer brands including Philips Lighting, Signify, Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, All-Clad, BNSF, Amgen, and IFF.

The work spans strategy, creative direction, and program management — usually all at once, on the same project. The result is a single point of accountability for retail activation programs that need to move quickly, look sharp, and roll out cleanly.

Based in New Jersey. Working globally.

Target client

Who this is built for.

The Ideal Client

  • A channel marketing manager at a consumer electronics or consumer products brand
  • Working internally to develop and sell in a retail activation concept
  • Needs creative direction and fast concepting before bringing in a vendor
  • Has a real budget but needs the idea proven before committing it
  • Values a partner who understands both creative and operational sides
  • Wants someone who can run with a brief and come back with the unexpected

The Problem Being Solved

  • Internal teams can't visualize the concept clearly enough to get leadership buy-in
  • Vendors are too expensive to engage before the idea is approved
  • No one on the team bridges creative, copy, and program management together
  • Global rollout is inconsistent because no playbook exists
  • Digital in-store experiences are hard to manage without a tech-savvy partner
  • The gap between "great idea" and "approved, funded, in production" is too wide
